If you know you need a 16”, just get the base 16”. It has 2 more GPU cores than the base 14”. Big deal, the difference is extremely marginal. Don’t get the laptop you don’t want because you thought what you wanted was too “overpowered.”. This is the only way to get a 16” laptop from Apple, be happy there’s a powerful computer

A lot of programmers end up with 2 external monitors plus their machine's display. I rarely feel the need for an external monitor these days, even doing front end work with the 16" macbook pro supplied by my company. I haven't seen a 14" but 13" is simply way too small. You might be able to get by with it but I think it will suck compared to a 16".
